I've been blessed by all of my children in more ways that I can imagine. Jeremiah is the child who first made me a mother. In honor of his birthday, I offer this tribute to his service as U.S. Army Veteran of Foreign Wars. He served eight years with the National Guard, most of which were as an active duty solider, both in the U.S. and Afghanistan. He sacrificed for his family and country as well as postponed his continued education. He dreams of a continuing to serve his fellow man and woman in the healing arts. This jar, while in tribute to his birthday is also a thanks to all the men and women who serve. I'd also like to give a shout out to my nephew, Bob, who is currently on duty with the Army in the Middle East. May all of our active duty service people return home soon and safely. I was lucky enough to be blessed with that gift. The lid was made using resin covered scrapbook embellishments. I placed these over a marbled, polymer clay background and ringed the lid with ball chain similar to that used to suspend dog tags. The rim is clay I mixed to a military green shade, stippled with gold paint. The four signs that surround the jar were made using my ink jet water-slide transfer paper. The three that remain unseen in the photos read: "Service, Defender, and Soldier." Here's to you son. All my thanks for your unconditional love, support, and friendship!
What a beautiful gift - the box - and what a beautiful gift your son is to you and you to him. God Bless you all and God Bless all those serving in the forces.
