The Bead & Button show is over for another year. Before I head back home, I have an adventure of a different sort. Today, before my flight takes off, I am privileged to meet with the folks of Carma Labs (makers of Carmex). I'll have the chance to show them some of the jars from the blog thus far. I hope they enjoy seeing and handling them up close, as much I have enjoyed making them. If you haven't heard, Carmex has a wonderful, Healing Cream that comes in a handy tin, suitable for embellishment. I'm diverting from my usual path of covering lip balm lids. As there is an extra day in this calendar year, I thought today would be the perfect day to work on this larger canvas. This will be the one, extra project that makes the "365 Days of Lip Service" project, a full 366 creations for Leap year. I used my Groovy texture stamp and the Sutton Slice technique (as found in The Complete Book of Polymer Clay) to create a black on white raised pattern. I filled in the cavities with Magic Glos UV resin, mixed with Art Institute Glitter. The centers of the flowers have SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystals glued in place. Your hands will look great and so will your lotion tin. Let your inner artist guide you to embellish your own masterpiece!
